MIELI Lounais-Suomen mielenterveys ry
Our official name is MIELI Lounais-Suomen mielenterveys ry, which translates to MIELI Mental Health Southwest Finland.
We are one of the member associations of MIELI Mental Health Finland (MIELI ry). We promote and strengthen mental wellbeing, support those in vulnerable positions, and offer low-threshold support in difficult life situations and times of crisis.
Our association was founded in 1991 and we operate the MIELI Crisis Centre Turku.
Our purpose
A crisis can affect anyone. We offer support and assistance in various life crises, provided by both professionals and trained volunteers.
We offer the opportunity to participate in our association’s activities and engage in meaningful and impactful volunteer work.
We produce and provide information that promotes mental health for both the general public and professionals who encounter people in crisis.

MIELI Lounais-Suomen mielenterveys ry (MIELI Mental Health Southwest Finland) is an independent non-governmental organization and a member association of MIELI Mental Health Finland. Our purpose is to promote mental health work and psychosocial wellbeing within the Southwest Finland region. The association operates MIELI Crisis Centre Turku, which is part of the national MIELI Crisis Centre network.
The core mission of the association and its Crisis Centre is to provide diverse crisis support, develop crisis intervention methods, and produce other outpatient mental health services. We coordinate volunteer work as part of preventive mental health efforts and engage in information, education, and research activities to increase mental health awareness. Furthermore, we offer clinical supervision and training within our field and collaborate with other institutions and communities promoting mental health.
