- The purpose of our counselling is to support you in coping with the crisis caused by sexual violence.

- We also offer support for the loved ones of those who have experienced sexual violence.
- If less than one month has passed since the incident, please first contact the SERI Support Centre.
Seeking support is worthwhile
Talking about experiences of sexual violence is often difficult, and you may feel like you just want to forget what happened. It is common for those who have experienced violence to feel unnecessary guilt or shame. Still, talking about the experience and processing it is important, so that the event affects your life as little as possible.
If you wish to book an appointment with a crisis worker in English or via an interpreter, we recommend booking your appointment by phone, as the online booking system does not currently allow you to specifically select services in English.
Our office and phone bookings are open Mon–Thu from 1 pm to 3 pm, tel. 040 8223 961.
Learn about our current and upcoming peer groups. Most of our groups are held in Finnish.
You can consult the Koski staff on matters related to sexual violence. If you would like to discuss a question or concern with us, please leave a call request.
We provide class-length information sessions on sexual self‑determination. The session is suitable for students from 8th grade up to the first year of upper secondary education. The classes are held in Finnish.
Just saying out loud, ‘I have been raped,’ is an enormous hurdle. Once you get past that, you may feel absolutely terrible at first, but then somehow… lighter. Like, well, I didn’t die from this — it just is what it is.– Kallio, Maaret: Oon siellä jossain mun

It is possible — and allowed — to recover from sexual violence
Koski received its name in a naming competition held in summer 2016.
The rapids (koski) symbolise the crisis that survivors and their loved ones often have to navigate.
The word koski also refers to touching and pain in Finnish: “someone touched me without permission” or “it hurt a lot back then.”
But the power of rapids also reflects people’s ability to survive; recovery is possible, and everyone has the right to heal.
